While many of us had plans for Sunday lunch, a few glasses of wine or a spa day with mum, now we may have to cancel due to the coronavirus outbreak. Here are some alternatives Brits are currently being advised to avoid all non-essential contact, and those over the age of 70 preparing to self-isolate for up to 12 weeks. While many of us had planned to shower them with flowers and take them out for a day of bonding, that's no longer possible.
Pick a movie or a show that both you and your mum will love and start watching it in your separate homes simultaneously. These could include enjoying a warm bubble bath, a face mask or treating yourself to a manicure or pedicure. Choose a hobby or skill you both want to get better at and spend a few hours of the day practising your newly honed skills.
There are plenty of games you can play together from a distance, and not just on video game consoles. Popular board games, like Scrabble and Monopoly, have app versions that you can play from your separate devices. Take a trip out to a picturesque spot or viewpoint in your separate vehicles and take an in-car picnic. Call each other from your cars once you park up next to each other and sit and have a chat whilst enjoying your goodies.
